I’ve got a couple of new fixations. First, I’d really like to see the aurora borealis. How can you not dig such a dramatic display of magnetism in the ionosphere?

I’m also increasingly interested in old newsreels of unbelievable events. You’ve all seen the Tacoma Narrows Bridge footage, but how about the sodium disposal below? In a time before folks worried about safety or the environment, there was some awesome film being produced.

I’m having a real dilemma surrounding the drunken midget that lives in my house. There’s a tough decision to make, and I only get one shot at it. In what order do I show Ben the Star Wars movies? I know…I’m stumped too. You’ve got to remember that Star Wars was the cornerstone of my childhood. How do I handle this with Ben? So here’s my thinking:

Jar Jar makes may be less offensive to children – Its a shame that Lucas had to create Jar Jar Binks and crap all over my childhood. But there’s a chance a 4 year old might not completely loathe him. So that’s a point for starting with episode 1 rather than waiting until Ben is more discriminating.

Jar Jar + Hayden Christensen = Sad making – This magnificent duo of suck may border on child abuse (or at least neglect). And I’m worried that they’ll turn him off from the series entirely. Point for starting with New Hope.

Samuel L. Jackson is cool – Come on, he’s a freakin’ Jedi pimp. Who else would have a purple light saber? Point to episode 1.

I am your father! – The “Luke, I am your father” moment is one of the greatest scenes in any movie ever. I can’t imagine spoiling that with the schlock of episodes 1-3.

I’m thinking at this point of going in order of release. There’s actually a chance that I might treat episodes 1-3 like Godfather 3 and pretend they don’t exist. I know some of you are dorky enough to have strong feelings on this. Weigh in. I could use the advice, and we’ve got some time yet to sort this out.
