I’ve been traveling a lot for business lately. The world has become something of an endless blur of airports, conference rooms and bad meeting sandwiches (why is it always the same crappy sandwiches no matter where in the world you have a meeting?). I have to admit that that I’m getting pretty burned out on travel generally. That is, I was burned out until I found out I have meetings the week after next in Finland!

Oh sure, I can hear you out there. Finland? That doesn’t sound cool. Two words: aurora borealis. Those of you familiar with my almost unsettling love of magnetism will understand my excitement. Apparently, although we’re in a relative slump when it comes to solar flares this year, October is prime viewing time. I should have a free weekend after my meetings so now it’s just a question of deciding where to go. I will also be attempting to go to a reindeer farm. Very very exciting.

I realize it’s unlikely, but if any of you have been to Finland please speak up. I am also accepting ideas on how best to affix a red nose to a reindeer for photo purposes.
